Usually occurring to people aged 40 to 70, this disorder keeps you off from moving your shoulders normally, which hinders you from doing your everyday tasks. <p>What causes frozen shoulders? This may develop from overuse or poor posture that stiffens and shortens the muscles and ligaments around the shoulder joint. This disorder can be divided into three phases. The first phase oftentimes lasts for 1-3 months and cause mild pain that worsens at night. The seconds phase can be very stiff and may persist for 4-12 months. The final phase is the thawing stage which can go on for 3-8 months. This is also the stage where frozen shoulder exercises will be needed.

<p>• Allow your arms to hang down freely in front of you.
<p>• Sway your arms forward, backward and in a mild circular motion.

<p>• Push the affected elbow towards the wall.

<p>• Lie down and rest your back on the floor.
<p>• Hold a stick with both hands, palms up.
<p>• Rest your upper arms on the floor and bend your elbows at a 90 degree angle.
<p>• Using your good arm, push your injured arm out away from your body while keeping the elbow of the good arm at your side.
<p>• Pause for awhile and go over the exercise for 10 times.

<p>• Lie down with your hands placed at the back of your head.
<p>• Gradually move your elbows sideward.
<p>• Pause for a few seconds and go back to your initial position slowly as well.

<p>• Place a rubber band at the upper part of your elbows, arms inside it.
<p>• Bend your elbows at a 90-degree angle.
<p>• Curl your arms towards your chest, palms facing you.

<p>The Exercise Program
<p>Select an exercise to practice easily at any given time of the year. The majority of people are greatly satisfied with walking, jogging, swimming, fitness videos, or with exercise classes.
<p>Any exercise should always begin slowly.
<p>Be sure to consult your physician if you have a medical condition, before starting your new exercise program and vigorous activity.
<p>It is important to make the activity fun, and not overly strenuous. You are more likely to be consistent with the exercise program if you do not overstrain or overdue the exercise routine.
<p>Allow yourself the opportunity to like and become familiar with the new exercise activity.
<p>Remember to warm up before you start the exercises, as well as making sure to cool down afterwards. About five minutes for warm-ups and cool down times are usually recommended by most fitness experts. By performing warm-ups, you will be less likely to injure yourself when exercising, and be more apt to continue with the exercise routine.
<p>When developing the exercise program, be sure to establish a reasonable schedule by allowing some days of rest from the activities. <p>It is good practice to exercise normally at least three times per week. You could try exercising every other day with maybe a couple of days to three days off every week.
